About Chapel Hill Mahjong Club

I'm Shea — founder of the Chapel Hill Mahjong Club. I kept reading and hearing about American Mahjong, and I'd see pictures of groups of ladies playing, laughing, and learning together. I was immediately interested and had to know what it was all about. Three years later I'm still obsessed, and I started this club so I could keep meeting new and different ladies and share the fun.

Don't be nervous — just come with a fun, positive attitude, and be ready to laugh, meet new friends, and find your new addiction. Whether you're picking up your first tile or you've been playing for years, there's a seat at the table for you. I teach beginner classes that take you from curious to confident, host open play nights around Chapel Hill, Pittsboro and now at Fearrington. I put together private events for birthdays, girls' nights, and celebrations of every kind.

And if you really catch the bug, come away with us — our Mahjong Dolly Retreat is heading to Nashville, February 5–7, 2027!

See you at The Tables!
